Fisheries Inshore Section staff headed out for a quick resurvey of coral reefs around Upolu (14th-16th January) and Savaii (18th-22nd January) to collect data on coral damage in 10 marine protected areas. There was not much damage to corals observed on Upolu sites. Palolo, Vaovai and Saoluafata were all above 10% and below 20% damage. Fagasa reserve had the only outstanding coral damage found in Savaii (30.4%) whereas Papa-Puleia was next with 29%. The rest had between 10% and 20%. Control No.: 00013494.nul
