Abstract: Aquaculture managers, researchers and economists from across the Pacific and appropriate FSM representatives met in Kosrae to develop planning information which would allow government and private sectors in the FSM to best evaluate where to invest money and effort in immediate aquaculture development. Conclusions were that aquaculture of : 1)Giant clams ( Tridacna species and Hippopus ), 2)Seaweeds ( Gracilaria and Eucheuma ), 3)Black Lip Pearl Shells ( Pinctada margaritifera ), 4)Milkfish ( Chanos chanos ) and 5)Bath Sponges ( Japanese cultured species ) should receive highest priority in the FSM. For each of these recommended types of aquaculture the steps for implementation, recommended schedules, estimated budgets and projected results were provided.
